Technical Assistance & Dissemination
Unless findings from research and demonstration reach people in need, they have little impact. Nonetheless, many results from good studies remain on the shelf and fail to make a difference for people trying to manage chronic conditions. The Center is committed to this not happening with its studies, programs and products. As a result, a Dissemination Team within the Center focuses on getting effective interventions broadly used and making findings widely accessible.
There are many examples of this commitment. The Open Airways program developed by Center investigators is a national program of the American Lung Association available around the United States. The China Asthma program is being disseminated in a number of cities in that country by the Beijing Capital Institute. The Physician Asthma Care Education program is available on the web through the National Heart Lung & Blood Institute of the NIH. The Women Take PRIDE program has become part of the Senior Services of Albany under the auspices of SUNY Albany. Products of Allies Against Asthma and the Asthma Health Outcomes Projects are available to community coalitions and any other interested parties on a specially designed website. Making a difference entails efforts to get the work out to those who can benefit from the Center's work.
