W. K. Kellogg Food & Community Initiative
How we nourish our children is one of the most pressing issues of our time. Food is central to child development— it has impact on how children learn and grow. Food within family settings is deeply affected by a family’s economic security, or lack thereof.
The foundation’s Food, Health & Well-Being programming addresses conditions in communities that impact the health and quality of life for children, with a focus on good food at all times—from birth to adulthood— and in all places—home, school and community.
The Kellogg Foundation works with organizations and communities to:
- Promote healthy birth outcomes.
- Provide access to fresh, healthy, locally grown food.
- Create safe places to play and be active.
- Support youth and families to reshape their neighborhoods, towns and community environments.
The foundation also supports efforts to continue to strengthen the public health system. Such efforts support the wellness and health for the most vulnerable communities, families and children.
