Online Education Tools for Eosinophilic Disorders

Eosinophilic disorders are an emerging spectrum of chronic allergic gastrointestinal diseases affecting both children and adults. As a relatively new class of disorders, access to clinical expertise may be limited to certain geographic regions. This has lead to misunderstandings for both primary care clinicians and patients about recommended treatments and self-care. In partnership with the American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders (APFED), Harvey Leo, MD and other CMCD investigators are developing web-based educational modules that can increase awareness about eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders among laypersons, educators, patients, and families. We are conducting a study to determine whether the modules improve users’  knowledge of the condition and help patients and their family feel more confident managing the disease.
